Hi,
I have just installed MQ-5.3 on Solaris 8 and now trying to install upd07. I get the following error when i try to install the update. Can someone pls help.
The following packages are available:
1 gsk6bas Certificate and SSL Base Runtime (gsk6bas)
(sparc) 6.0.5.41
2 mqm-upd07 WebSphere MQ for Sun Solaris 2 - U496731
(sparc) 5.3.0

Is the base installed properly
Can you do a pkginfo and find out whether MQ base is installed right or not |

Yes, its installed properly.

Can you rerun the pkgadd with the -v flag? This will trace the checkinstall script and we might be able to see what is going wrong. _________________ Philip Morten

You didnt mention if there are any QMs running still. anyways stop all QMs (endmqm) and any listeners.
ps -ef|grep mq and kill any mq processes. |

Something is going seriously wrong with the checkinstall script, can you try this:
mkdir /var/tmp/mqm
pkgtrans mqm-U496731.img /var/tmp/mqm all
and then examine the file /var/tmp/mqm/mqm-upd07/install/checkinstall,
if it looks OK then try installing using:
pkgadd -d /var/tmp/mqm _________________ Philip Morten

Wll spotted. It was all down to permissining. I did the pkg trans and changed the permissions on the resulting directories and it worked like charm. Thanks for your help. |
