Hi all,

I would like change a broker from one config manager to a new one. If there anybody who have experiences of this migration with the export functionality (TOPOLOGY, MESSAGE FLOWS, EG) by the control center.
We are using WMQI 2.1, CSD05 and MQ5.3 CSD04.

Thanks,
--Carsten

You have to delete and recreate the broker to assign it to a new configuration manager. This is a very picky process. You should read the System Administration guide section that talks about deleting a broker to make sure you get the steps done in the right order and all done properly.

Migrating message flows and message sets from one configuration manager to another is as easy as exporting importing, and then checking them in.

Then you can use the new configuration manager to redeploy the flows and sets to the new configuration manager.

You cannot export/import topology. Take screen prints of your existing topology and Message Flow assignment to EG's. After creating the new configuration manager you can recreate the topology and broker assignment.

For Message sets you can make a copy of MRM database that can be used with new config mgr. This way you don't have to export/import each message set.

Thanks for the rapid response, but I don't understand the export functionality (TOPOLOGY ...). In which case can I use it?

Thanks,

Hmmm .. I guess I was wrong. You can export topology (and topics, Message flows) from your old config mgr (using Control Center) and import it into new Config mgr. I have never tried importing a topology, so I don't know what gets populated.
