Bit of an off-the-wall question, inspired by the successful launch of a large communications satellite by the Ariane rocket ...

I'd like to know - if it doesn't breach security - the most exotic apparatus in which MQSeries has been installed.

I have heard that MQe is used on the Alaskan Pipeline, each little node sending info back to the QM about its own little section of the pipleine.

I saw a SCADA based WMQI presentation. The person giving it had a message flow that was accessible via the web. You could do things to a web page and it would flash the lights on his christmas tree back home.

Not much in the way of practicality, but it was interesting to do something on the web and see somebody's lights flicker.

Two technology would-be-nice-to-haves which get dusted off every now and then re-marketed whenever a new gadget comes onto the market are :

1. Control your house by remote control : Open the curtains, turn on the heating, turn lighting on and off, set the cat on fire...

2. Remote control surgery, over videophone, web etc.

Don't suppose MQSeries lends itself particularly well to either of the above
