We have 4 seperate and distinct broker environments on seperate AIX servers. If I create a configuration manager on my NT workstation (using the command assistant) how do I point it to a particular environment? I have defined transmission queues to all 4 environments, so how does the configuration manager get associated with a particular transmission queue? There doesn't appear to be an entry for this when the C.M. is built. Can someone clarify this process for me?

Thanks,

Using control center,
You will define a broker(where you will give the QMGR name) in your topology view and deploy the topology and that's when the config manager will start exchanging messages with the broker. Until then your config manager will have no idea where the broker is.

You may need to understand a little bit more about the role of the configuration manager, as well.

The configuration manager is the central point of contact for all of the control centers you have.

So if, by "four environments" you mean "development, integration, test, production" or something similar where you need to have different accesses for different sets of control center users for each environment... then you need one configuration manager for each separate environment.

This also means that likely you will need to configure security so that it does not use Domain level groups, instead uses the local groups on each configuration manager machine.

Jeff .. that is how I have it set up. I just wasn't clear on what directed the configuration manager to a particular domain. But Venella's explanation makes sense.. If I understand it correctly, the queue manager name is read from the broker definition.

Thank you both.
