Previously one would need to specify the MaxChannels and MaxActiveChannels in QM.INI, but with MQ5.2 and Windows 2000 this setting can be found if you right-click the Queue Manager in the MQ Services Console and select Properties and click the Channels tab. Unfortunately IBM haven't updated the documentation to tell you this. Also confusing that the Queue Manager properties under the MQ Explorer Console and the MQ Services Console give you different property pages to change.

On windows, the MQSeries queue manager attributes are held in the registry as opposed to the qm.ini or mqs.ini files. As such, rather than having you hand-edit the registry with regedit (yuch), the MQExplorer tooling performs this task for you via the MMC plugin. I am hoping that via one set of panels you can achieve one task and via another set of panels, a different set. I would be disapointed if IBM gave two interfaces for the same task. Could these be related to the MQSeries as a whole settings (mqs.ini) vs the per queue manager settings (qm.ini)? |
