Hi,
We have a WMQI V2.2 CSD3 broker running on Mainframe (OS/390). Currently it accesses the application tables defined on DB2 on the same LPAR. Is it possible for this broker to connect to a Oracle tables running on a remote Sun Solaris server?
Is this combination supported for the broker on Mainframe? Has anybody attempted this?

hi murali

we had the same question...
here the answer of ibm's hursley lab:

Code:

Hi Bjoern,
no you are not the only customer to have these requirements but the bigger
demand is for customers to have brokers on non-z/os platforms using
databases on z/os.

The only ODBC drivers we have on z/OS are DB2-specific and we require other
specific drivers to talk to the other RDBMs, for example tailored versions
of DataDirect's drivers for Oracle and Sybase, Microsoft's driver for SQL
Server . Currently therefore we do not support access to non-DB2 databases
from z/OS. It has been suggested that we may be able to get the broker to
work with an Oracle database is if the Oracle DB was made part of a
'federated' database managed by DB2, in which case it will look like DB2 to
the broker. However, this is theoretical and has not been tested. As such
it is not supported.
If you need this kind of support then you need to raise a requirement to
have any chance of getting this implemented.

...

Best Regards,
Christina
