Hi,
Just wanna confirm that in WMQ5.3 on Solaris, the MaxMsgL for a qmgr is defaulted to be 4MB, and can be increased up to 100MB.
Also, the MaxMsgL attribute of a queue and the qmgr can be changed dynamically, meaning that the change will take effect right away, without the need to restart the qmgr.
Thanks! |

Good morning,
You are correct on the default message size, It defaults to 4MB on the queue & queue manager.
However, I believe the max can be increased well over 100MB for MQ 5.1 and above
The changes to the queue manager / queues are dynamic and you should not have to restart the QM. _________________ Cheers!!

No.
The maximum size of an individual message is still 100MB in 5.3.
The maximum size of the data on a QUEUE is much larger, and much larger in 5.3 vs 5.1. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Thanks folks!
In WMQ5.3, I think the max size of data that a queue can hold is 2 GB, and the max size of an individual msg is 100 MB. |

From "Websphere System Administration Guide" second edition (October 2002) version 5.3
-"WebSphere MQ Version 5.3 supports queues over 2 GB in size; “Enabling large queues” on page 48 discusses |""
-"The default maximum message length is 4 MB, although you can increase this to a maximum length of 100 MB (where 1 MB equals 1 048 576 bytes). In practice, the message length might be limited by:
The maximum message length defined for the receiving queue
The maximum message length defined for the queue manager
The maximum message length defined by the queue
The maximum message length defined by either the sending or receiving
application"
