1) MQSeries sample programs are found on your local drive where MQSeries is installed. Take a look at <mq_home>/tools/C and similar directories for other programming languages.
For supportpacs, you can goto this url, http://www-306.ibm.com/software/integration/support/supportpacs/
2) Take a look at strmqtrc command.
3) Application Programming Reference/Guide talks about this.
You can take sample test at prometric.com, but you have to pay for taking that exam. _________________ Kiran

What do you actually get for your 10 dollars? Do you get to keep the questions?Do you get the answers? Or are you just told your mark and nothing else? I need to get an idea of how much work lies ahead of me.
Thanks in anticipation for any response |

Depends on how much experience with MQ you've had. And how fast you read and learn. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Thanks for the concise answers.
I've been involved with MQ for about 6 months, client site has OS/390 with VB and Dot Net applications extracting info off legacy mainframe system. No onsite documentation other than programs themselves ("written so well they don't need documentation" I was told!), thrown in at the deep end, actually designing applications etc with v little experience. Trying to eke out as much info as poss from original designers(those that are left) and thought certification would help me in my present plight and also for my future contracts. Client would not dream of funding any of this so I'm on my own here.
The education resource list for test 296 seems to list every manual - anyone got an estimate of how long it takes to prepare for 296? I'm working on these systems 5 days a week so its not like I'm not getting exposure.
All comments welcome. |

As the name indicates, a "Solution Developer" must be able to bring to bear any number of existing tools/solutions/support pacs to solve a problem. Therefore, you cannot rule out any particular support pac from appearing on the exam. Yes there are a lot, and while you may only need passing knowledge of some of them, others like MA88, you should be quite familiar with. _________________ Brandon Duncan

For someone with your particular set of experiences, probably you can get away with spending 4 to 8 hours of review, looking through the material in the manuals that is relevant to the topics that are listed on the test page.
Then take the sample test, and see where you are weak.
But again, that's dependant on how well and quickly you read and learn. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
