Hi all,
When I try to import a CopyBook into my Message Set the Control Center returns an error :

Quote:
BIP1890E: The opertaion could not be completed. Invalid path (K:/Projects/CpyBk.cpy). The operation could not be completed because the specified path is not valid for the configuration manager.

Here 'K' drive is the mapped drive to the machine where the ConfigMgr resides.
I even tried to use the format --> \\machinename\Directory\filename.
I even tried to use the file that is residing on my local machine.
When I imported the DTD that's on my local machine, the import is successful but it shows an error in case of the CopyBook file.

I am using WMQI 2.1 With CSD05.

Thanks,
Basha.

I'm guessing that you're running a split ConfigMgr/Control Center. The import is done by the ConfigMgr, not the Control Center, so it needs to know where the file resides. The problem is that the Control Center sends to the ConfigMgr the location of the file based on IT'S view of the drives, not the ConfigMgr's. You need to type in the location of the file as the ConfigMgr would see it.

Cheers,

Eddie,
I wanted to convey the same thing what you replied. My control center and config Mgr are on different machines. As of now I know the IP Address of the machine (config Mgr) and the name of the shared drive( lets say x$).

I tried to use \\machineIp\sharedDrive\Filepath\fileName.cpy. But that does not help. I think I should know the exact drive name and the folder name where my copybook resides.

Please throw some light friends.
Thanks,
Basha

Does the service user for the ConfigMgr have permissions to the network resource you are asking it to access?

If you do Start->Run and enter \\machineIp\sharedDrive\Filepath\ on the ConfigMgr machine, does it resolve?

Again, you have to define the location AS IF you were on the ConfigMgr machine.

Or you can copy your files TO the configmgr machine, and then specify the full path to them there.

Hi all,
I have resolved the error. I was using a wrong shared drive name. I used the following: \\machinename\sharedDriveName\filePath

It worked. I am really sorry bcoz the mistake was on my part.

But, I thank you all for your replies.
Thanks.
