Hi,

Currently we are getting AMQ9513: Maximum number of channels reached
in mq error logs.

For MQ 5.2 in Solaris 2.6. Can we have the following configration

MaxChannels=200
MaxActiveChannels=200

Currently we donot have any of the entries for the following configuration.

Is there any limits for Solaris2.6 with 5.2 for the above said numbers

My guess would be that you have programs that aren't disconnecting and are hanging onto the channels.

There have also been numerous fixes in this area in the WMQ 5.3 product. I'd suggest getting off of 5.2 (which isn't supported).

You can also set the TCP stanza in the qm.ini as
TCP:
KeepAlive=Yes

The below quote from Intercommunication doc:
Quote:

If you specify this option, TCP periodically checks that the other end of the connection is still available, and if it is not, the channel is
terminated.

Search this site with MAXCHANNELS keyword and you find a bunch of hits. All or most of your answers would be in there. This thread also might be of interest to you.

As far as i know and understand there is no limit for maxchannels attribute barring the physical capacity of the system itself.

You shouldnt need as many in real practice of course, as bower pointed out you probably have to check the reasons your apps aren't disconnecting which is why they are consuming all of the channels.

Hi, there,

Does anybody know whether the problem (AMQ9513) can cause queue manager crush? My queue manager crushed once lately. The only error I can find is this. I am wondering why. It shouldn't since my understanding is that if the problem happens, queue manager should keep running and just reject new connection request.

Thanks in advace.

Regards

Did your crash generate an *.FDC file? Reaching the max channels shouldn't crash your qmgr.

Hi, there,

Thanks for your reply.

No .FDC file. I have checked. It's a bit strange why my queue manager crushed. No clue at all but the error AMQ9513.
