Someone mentioned to me that in the new release of Websphere MQ V5.3 CSD06 you can persist messages directly to a database instead of queues without programming intervention. Just some configuration at the queue manager. I haven't seen this reported. Can someone tell me if this is true or not?

I don't think that is true but I think you are referring to this.

NPMCLASS(HIGH) - This setting enables non-persistent messages on
this queue to be retained across a queue manager restart.
Non-persistent messages may still be lost in the event of a
failure.
