Hello,
We are implementing a J2EE compliant package in a distributed environment with some back-office, centralized processing and the data exchange between the central site and the distributed sites it is to be done via MQ (a central, z/OS based Queue Manager will have channels defined to all distributed MQMs).
The business logic runs under WAS and uses the JMS interface (as this is part of J2EE).
The functionality requires a local queue manager to allow 'disconnected' activity when the main site cannot be reached.
My specific question is:
Do I need to acquire a copy of WebSphere MQ Queue Manager and install it on every server? Or ...
Can I use the WebSphere MQ Queue Manager that is imbedded in WAS and have JMS talk through this queue manager to the z/OS MQM?
I'd be very grateful for your thoughts, opinions, ideas, 50,000+ postings |

Yes.

The Embedded Messaging in WAS will only communicate with applications running on the same machine. So this won't work.
But, of course, check all licensing questions with your IBM Sales representative. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

With embedded messaging, you can do client-connection, which fails when the main server is down. If you can afford to do the request again, you may not need to install server on each client server! |
