I was looking at /var/mqm/logs/QMMgr/active the other day and it appears that the person has set the maximum number of rotating logs to fortyseven each just over 4meg. So so I have roughly 188meg before messages start being thrown into the Byte Bucket.
The thing that bothers me is the MAXDEPTH of the SYSTEM.DEAD.LETTER.QUEUE is 999999999. What I am wondering is, Persistant messages placed on the Dead Letter Queue get written to the logs?
In other words if I get 188 or more 4meg messages placed on my SYSTEM.DEAD.LETTER.QUEUE will it fill up my log space and potentially start deleting messages being processed by other Queues and channels? _________________ Yes, I am an agent of Satan but my duties are largely ceremonial.

It will start filling up your log space if you have a long running unit of work, and you did not service the messages. Also you did not clear the inactive logs away.. in the case of linear log.
