I am finding some problem in creating "Configuration Manager" in MQSI.
Message I am getting says, "BIP8078S A problem was encountered while
attempting to create/delete the Configuration Manager. The operation was
not completed successfully. Check messages in the event log for related
errors and retry the operation." .
When I see log file, I find two zero KB files
"ConfigMgr.mqsicreateconfigmgr.userTrace.bin.0" and
ConfigMgr.mqsicreateconfigmgr.userTrace.bin.1.
I have MQSeries, MQSI in WindowsNT.
I am not able to proceed with the installation. Please help me.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Umesh |

Have you looked at the Windows Event Log? What does it say there? |

No messages are written to the NT Event Log.
There was no problem in creation of broker and broker user name server.
I can even start these services successfully.
I tried deleting broker and user name server and recreating the three fresh.
but it did n't work. I even tried reinstallation of my database (DB2) and MQSI. |

I assume you gave yourself all the mq* group rights in the NT user manager?
Have you created MQSIMRDB and MQSICMDB and registered them for ODBC? |

Have you tried creating the Config Mgr from the DOS command line? I personally prefer that to the GUI as it can show additional diagnostics not displayed there. |

Have you looked under Services to make sure that there is not a partially installed service there, possibly disabled....also check in registry for an entry under SYSTEMControlSet001Services. |

Please check your CLASSPATH variable. It may have been modified.
As per MQSI books,
BIP8078E A problem was encountered while attempting to create/delete the
Configuration Manager.
Explanation: The operation was not completed successfully. This error is symptomatic of a java CLASSPATH problem.
User Response: Check messages in the system log for related errors. Check to see if a product has been installed recently that may have altered the
CLASSPATH, if so, ensure that CLASSPATH is restored to at least its previous setting. This product relies on MQSeries JAR and ZIP files being available via the CLASSPATH, there may also be database specific JAR and ZIP files that are required. Retry the operation. If the problem still occurs, contact your IBM support center.

You can get a service trace of create Configuration Manager which might offer a clue...check mqsireadlog command, component ConfigMgr. |

Problem is solved. It was a CLASSPATH problem. I was not having db2java.zip in my classpath.
Thanks, to all of you...

Umesh
