Does some one has a document explaining all the steps required to upgrade MQ 5.2 to 5.3 (Not MQ Clustered but Microsoft clustered). |

Follow the Quick beginning guide for windows and refer section Migration for more details ..
Few noteworthy points
1) You can retain & carry over your current queue manager configuartion to 5.3 and the installer would prompt you this during installation
2) Unless other current configuration is backed up before migration , there is no way to rollback or going back !!!
I think you dont have to recompile or relink any of your MQ programs including C , C++ , VB & Java ... I am not sure ? Is any expert opinion ? |

Be *very* careful. You have to 'remove' MQ from the MSCS clustering first. Uninstall *completely* all traces of the old MSCS Support Pac. Only at that point can you start to upgrade. Then re-introduce MQ to the MSCS.
Back EVERYTHING up before you begin. MSCS can be *very* flakey.

Thanks for your quick response.
I should save the
Registery entry for MQ
MQ 5.2 Install directories
logs, queue directories
Run saveqmgr
authority information
Then
stop all the services
stop the queue manager
Remove MC74 using 5.2 install CD
Install MQ 5.3 with upgrade (keeping the files)
Install csd05
start the services
start the QMgr
Can you please confirm the steps sequence. |

authority information |
At 5.2 authoritiy information is in queues, so backing up the logs and data + reg branch is sufficient.

Remove MC74 using 5.2 install CD |
MC74 wasnt in 5.2, it was a seperately downloadable support pack. Therefore, delete the MQ resource and uninstall MC74 from control panel/add remove programs would be this step.
Whether thats all is another matter |

I've sent you a PM, but basically it will be installed with MQ 5.3 - you cant stop it (well, it comes with the server portion, I think). haregtyp /r is required to register the MSCS device type though before you can use it. |

While uninstalling MC74, I got the ' 'haregtyp in use'.Can you please tell me what is the sequence of the steps to remove every link of Mqseries MC74 in the windows clustered environment.
I did stop the Qmanager, stop the services, off line the mq resource and then deleted it, tried to remove MC74 and got the message "haregtyp in use.
Can you please help. |

Not something which I have seen before (nor is reported before as far as I can tell). Does "haregtyp /u" run? Are you sure you deleted the MSCS resource? Other than that, I'm not sure, sorry. In use sounds like an o/s response/return code. Can you rename the haregtyp.exe yourself (and then rename it back again)? |

I received the same error 'haregtyp in use'. the installation went through successfully but I experienced some inconsistency when trying to recreate the resource on the one node. The MQ resource is not picked up in MS Cluster Admin, so MQ is only defined on one of the clustered nodes. |
