Is there a limit to the number of versions of a process template that the Runtime Database can handle? We encountered this scenario: Our process instances were not following the expected path in the process, so we made changes and imported them into Runtime DB. We received no errors during the import, but the new template had no effect on the process instances created after import. I ran an export from the Runtime DB for that process and it reflected my updates.
I used the Process Templete Delete Tool (PTDT) to look at the number of versions for this process template, and it showed 8, the last one with a Valid Date from 1/22 instead of 2/17 (when I imported the new template). I was wondering if the Runtime DB can not handle more than 8 versions of a template at one time. Am I missing something? I tried to find something in one of the workflow manuals, but didn't locate anything related to versions.
Any guidance would be appreciated! _________________ D. Grandia |

Are you sure that when you imported the template you translated it? I have never seen anything like this in MQWF if the template was imported and translated, this would be a big bug _________________ John McDonald

Yes, I tried multiple times thinking I may have missed a parameter on the import. None of the newer templates showed up. To get the new template to take effect we had to delete all of the process instances using this template, go back and rerun the PTDT and remove the deleted templates. Then I could import the template and see it in the template list again. (Luckily this was not production data!!)
At some time I want to try to recreate the problem on a test template, but I'm in the middle of some other higher priority tasks right now. (On a side note, I vaguely remember reading that the WBI Modeler Server could not handle more that 8 versions of a process, and wondered if there was any correlation) _________________ D. Grandia |

Im running V3.4.0.4 and I just ran a quick test with the PTDT and I have at least one template that has 9 versions. I have never heard of such a limit, and seriously doubt that one exists. If you send me your FDL I will try an import with translate and see what I get. This sounds pretty strange to me. _________________ John McDonald

This remembers me one case that could be similar where fmcibie was used to import templates from a BT server (also WF client) to a remote RT server. The two boxes were having different local times, the client clock being earlier.
