Can a trace node write to a file that is not located on the server where the broker is running?

Thanks, Lisa

Lisa,
I received the below error while trying to write to log file not located on the server where the broker is running.

Hope this helps, Lisa

( PIINTD01_BKR.default ) Operating system error 'The system cannot find the path specified.
' opening trace file 'L:\Trdtech1\lisa.txt' for trace node 'FICCCMU_MsgFlow_1.Trace1'.

The trace node 'FICCCMU_MsgFlow_1.Trace1' attempted to open the trace file 'L:\Trdtech1\lisa.txt' but the operating system reported the error 'The system cannot find the path specified.
'. Message flow processing will continue, but trace output will not be written. The node will continually attempt to open the file until it succeeds.

If the name or location of the file was not specified correctly, then correct the message flow configuration and redeploy the broker. If the file could not be opened due to an environment or system error, take appropriate action to correct this situation.

I suspect that this failed because the broker user environment did not have the L drive mapped. You could try logging into the broker server as the broker service user, and then creating the drive mapping (and set it to reconnect at login).

I believe you can use UNC paths for the tracefile path and have that succeed. The other choice is to set up something that will create the drive mapping for the broker user when the broker service starts up This could be a batch file that contains a net use command that's set up as a scheduled task.

Jeff,
Thanks, The drive is mapped, but under another userid. I will delete the old mapping and reconnect using the broker id.

Thanks, Lisa

That may or may not do it.

That will change which user is authenticated on the remote system, not which user the mapping is defined for.

Again, try logging in as the broker service user.

Lisa,

You should not reconnect using the broker id. This is a security violation in our environment. If you have the broker id's password we will need to change that password.

I set up a file share for you to log all your trace files. If this is not enough please see me.

Thanks
