I am working on a project where I need to convert extended ASCII character to EBCDIC format before putting message from the UNIX to Mainframe side.

Can anyone send me the Mapping for EBCDIC to "Extended ASCII" (ASCII Characters that supports 16 bits.. this include several new special characters than the normal ASCII).

Does anyone know if there is any provision in MQSeries to do the conversion of EBCDIC to "Extended ASCII" and viceversa.

You should read the Intercommunications Manual.

Thanks JeffLowrey,

Do you have a complete list of mapping of "Extended ASCII" to EBCDIC characters?
I searched for a while to see if some of the extended ASCII characters are supported by EBCDIC or not. (for Eg: Ñ whose ASCII value is 209)

It will be great if you can help me to get this.

Thanks again,

- Saju

It is my understanding that the Get convert option is not perfect in converting EBCDIC to ASCII even before we consider extended. I have heard that ![] and other characters are not converted properly. Perhaps that is why he does not want to use MQ Series features.
