| mqseries 5.3 on SunSolaris less than version 7? |

Hi,
we have to migrate several sun solaris platforms running mqseries 5.0, 5.1 and 5.2 to mqseries 5.3
- i read in the Quick Beginnings xxx that we only can install 5.3 on sun running under sun solaris 7 (with patches applied) or sun solaris 8!
- does that mean that before migrating to mqseries 5.3 we "must" upgrade each sun solaris system to su 7 or sun 8 - no way to differ upgrading the sun OS?

| You'll need to upgrade your operating system to one of the ones supported by WMQ 5.3. I'm not sure if the install will actually force you to do this, but if you run into any problems, you'll have trouble getting help. |

| The 5.3 install scripts checks to ensure Sun OS is at version 7 or 8. iIf the check fails the install ends - it is not a warning message with the option of bypassing. Therefore, unless one removes the check (NOT recommended as I'm sure IBM have not certified WMQ 5.3 for non 7,8 versions and therefore the product will not be suppored) then you have no option but to upgrade. |

5.3 supports Solaris 7, 8 and 9 too.
