Does anyone know whether or not there is supposed to be an 'error' terminal on the HTTPRequest node in WBIMB v5?
On our broker machine, the node has 3 terminals - out, failure, and error. On any developer workstation in the toolkit, the node has only out and failure terminals.
The failure terminal doesn't seem to be effective at all, so we can only connect trace files to the error terminal, which is only visible when working directly on the server. Has anyone else seen this? What is it really supposed to look like? Server is Win 2000, workstations are WinNT. |

The answer depends on your CSD level.
The Error terminal was added in 5.0 CSD2. It did not exist before then.
The error terminal is for HTTP Errors only ("404 Not Found" for example)
The failure terminal is for exceptions (for example a Socket exception is thrown if the machine name cannot be resolved to an IP address).
Before CSD2 if an HTTP error occured it was sent to the OUT terminal, as XML if possible (eg for a SOAP-Fault), otherwise as a BLOB.
After CSD2 ALL HTTP Errors are routed to the error terminal as BLOBs, but the HTTPResponse Header allows you to query the exact HTTP error returned, so you can then parse the body downstream if you need to. _________________ MGK

That makes a whole lot of sense. Thank you! |
