Can anyone please briefly run through the pitfalls and things to be aware of in upgrading WMQ in a Veritas Cluster? I can't find any support documentation or references to this in the manuals. Support pac MC6A applied.

Nothing special...

- Bring down MQ normally (so it won't fail-over) on Node X (where it is running)
- Backup your data...
- Upgrade MQ on Node X
- Bring up MQ on Node X, see if it runs ok...
- on Node Y only upgrade MQ software (data is already migrated on Node X)
- Failover to Node Y, see if that is running properly
- Failover back to Node X...

When using MQ clustering (not HW/Veritas clustering...), there is a pmr1908 (on CSD4) that is not yet in a CSD as there are some time-out problems that cause runmqsc to hang...

the full pmr number is 01908,411,788 and fixes a problem introduced in CSD3 when fixing defect 7223 hung amqrrmfa.

If you are not implementing 5.3 CSD3 or above or not using MQ clustering... don't worry about this problem...

Sounds like you did this procedure without stopping VCS - is that true?

I don't recall any VCS specific commands...
I guess the whole point is not to 'upset' VCS in thinking that it needs to fail-over when you bring down MQ on the first node...
