Hi,

I'm running WMQI 2.1 GA on Solaris. Lately, I've been experiencing "Out Of Memory" condition with the broker.

We are a 24x7 shop and cannot afford to reboot the server every week. Our broker has 3 main ExecGroups, total 15 message flows. All flows are single-threaded. Most flows have to access DB2 for inserts. We're using the PostIt, GetEnv, LDAP PlugIn and MQGet supportpacs.

Any comments will be very appreciated.

Thanks

If this is the case then the first thing is to review the latest CSD for problems fixed in that and rolled up from the previous ones that might relate to broker memory use. Are you really running without any service applied?

How long have you been running without experiencing this condition?
If this was a reasonable period (couple of months?), what has changed?
Message troughput, Database upgrade, underlying OS patches, downtime intervals. The cause could be anything nothing to do with MQSI itself...

Actually, I have wmqi-upd04 (CSD02) on this system.

The latest CSD06 has a fix for IC35511 (Broker memory leak), CSD05 also has a fix for PQ66950 (Memory leak when using NEON). I can't find the description of those 2 problems anywhere.

Thanks

Thanks.

I'm not using SCADA so I guess IC35511 does not apply to my shop.

NEON is used extensively but PQ66950 mentions on Z/OS. Does it also apply to Solaris ?

I don't have personal experience with the Postit SP, but about a year ago I heard from another consultant that it leaked like a sieve (it might have been cleaned up since then). Based on that, we used MQGet for our requirements and haven't had any issues.

Good Luck.

I opened a ticket with IBM and was told that GetEnv may be the culprit.

Anybody experiencing memory problem with this SupportPacs ?

Thanks
