I created a subscription topic in MQSI (using a simple message flow), which - after the message flow ran - appeared in the Subscriptions tab of the MQSI. Control Center. Every time I put a message through the publishing message flow, however, a get the following warning log entry in my (Win2k) event log:
---------------------------------------------------------
( MQSI.default ) Unknown user .
The user was not found in the security information.
This may be an unauthorized user. However, if you expect the user to be able to access the broker, then this is an internal error, and you should contact your IBM support center.
---------------------------------------------------------
What "Unknown user" is this referring to? Any idea what the root cause could be?

Problem solved. I wasn't setting the MQMD.UserIdentifier element from the originating message before going into the publication node.
Funny how error messages make sense... once you know how to fix the error  |
