All,
I have it on good authority that IBM will be releasing a new product called JetStream (although this could be their internal name) in the near future.
Basically, JetStream will be a JMS provider. I have been told that one of the reasons for creating JetStream is that MQ s JMS provider competition (Sonic & Fiorano), talk about slow performance (header transformations) and non-pure implementation.
So, has anyone heard abut it? Does anyone have any docs they can share? How about delivery dates (support platforms)? What about a bridge between MQ and JetStream?
Can or will anyone from Hursley comment on JetStream?

I've also been told the same thing. And the reasons you listed as the need for this product (mainly performance) are correct as well. But I'll leave it at that because the person who gave me this information wanted me to be discreet about it. But if his behavior is any indication, I doubt we'll get any official response from IBM anytime soon. It seems they want to keep this under wraps for now.

There was an article in Information week ... may be 6-8 weeks back. That was all about ESB .. and its players. And IBM, one of the leading middle ware s/w provider, absence in it. It had briefly indicated . what could be IBM's stratergy .. and what can be expected in the near future (obviously ESB  )

the words "Utility Services Bus" popped up in some documents from Sonic and TIBCO.
Found the following article from 12-Dec-2003 http://www.analystviews.com/Pages/AnalystContent/the451/the451-20031218.htm
Doesn't sound like:
"This will be a very lightweight, very high-performance messaging (product)," said Danny Sabbah, chief technology officer at IBM's software group. (quote from the previous zdnet article I posted)

With the new I/O classes in Java 1.4, Java can now approach the performance and scalability of native code when it comes to file I/O and socket I/O.
So, perhaps it's finally time for a pure Java JMS provider from IBM (not counting everyplace!). |

Yeah, I saw that - very impressive.
The only reason java get's it's arse kicked in geometry, is because all the trig functions are soft coded in bytecode. Using hardware floating point instructions would give slightly different results on each platform and would not be portable! |

a bit off topic maybe, but then again this is General Discussion
anybody a clue where the 'jump' from 22.1 to 57.1 came from?
especially when all the other area's have improved so much...
