Hi,
I have the following configuration for an aggregate message

Client requests for some data and send 1 message.
I need to hit say 4 different sources of data to get the information, aggregate and send it back. Is this the best flow design

input --> aggregatecontrol --> compute1 -->output1 --aggrq1
compute 2-->output2 --aggrq2
compute 3-->output3--aggrq3
compute 4 -->output4--aggrrq4

compute nodes change message to send diff messages to backend.

Can you explain this? Do you want to do a RQST/RPLY to 4 different source systems to get this info or just do a database lookup?

Given the problem description, I think this design is good. It seems this is an online application, so you might want to consider performance overheads of using Aggregate nodes within your message flows.
Can you move the aggregation outside WMQI and use WMQI for transformation only?
