I'm aware of the encryption but what other features does 5.3 offer over 5.2. Is there a mechanism that ties it into WebLogic (BEA) to confirm the MQGET and and MQPUT are successful? A link would be fine. Thanks and happy holidays.

More in on IBM not supporting 5.2 after 12/31/2003 please. Does that mean not more CSDs or no nothing.

6) Improved cluster stability, support, and management.
7) Significant performance improvements in many areas
Improved support for runmqlsr (and an improved version of runmqlsr) on Unix, leading to much better channel stability, performance, and maintenance.

Jeff, we're both right (and wrong I guess!)
Call me mrwindows, mrlinux!

Below is the passage from the 5.2 version of the Sys Admin Guide

Quote:

LogFilePages=number
The log data is held in a series of files called log files. The log file size is specified in units of 4 KB pages.
In MQSeries for UNIX systems, the default number of log file pages is 1024, giving a log file size of 4 MB. The minimum number of log file pages 64 and the maximum is 16 384.

In MQSeries for Windows NT and Windows 2000, the default number of log file pages is 256, giving a log file size of 1 MB. The minimum number of log file pages is 32 and the maximum is 4095.

And here it is from 5.3
Quote:

LogFilePages=number
The log data is held in a series of files called log files. The log file size is specified in units of 4 KB pages.
In WebSphere MQ for UNIX systems, the default number of log file pages is 1024, giving a log file size of 4 MB. The minimum number of log file pages is 64 and the maximum is 16 384.

In WebSphere MQ for Windows, the default number of log file pages is 256, giving a log file size of 1 MB. The minimum number of log file pages is 32 and the maximum is 16 384.

By the way, there is a bug in the MQExplorer in the base 5.3 install that still limits you to a max log file size of 4095 if you create the QM thru the GUI (command line accepts the larger log file size command). CSD03 fixed the MQExplorer bug.
