Hi,
I'm new to workflow and I'm trying to scale our existing workflow system to increase performance and achieve high availability. Our current system consists of a single server running WF 3.3.2, MQSeries 5.2.1 and DB2 7.2 with the following configuration.
Setup
=====
FMCGRP
FMCSYS
FMCQM
I've just added a second workflow system based on the instruction in the installation guide as follow
FMCGRP
FMCSYS2
FMC2QM
I then create a client concentrator configuration as follows:
FMCGRP
FMCCQM
with connect Names
FMC.FMCGRP.FMCSYS,FMCCQM
FMC.FMCGRP.FMC2SYS,FMCCQM
Testing
=======
Logging to each system by providing specific system names using the MQWF Client was successful. ie FMCSYS, FMC2SYS
Logging on without specifying the system was also still OK.
Shutdown the MQWF Service on the first system then I could not loggon to either system.
Questions
========
How do I know which system I'm logging on to if I don't specify the system name? or does it matter?
If I shut down the MQWF service in on the first system then I can't log on. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I had the impression that in a cluster environment, if one system goes down then it the other system should be able to service the request.
Thank you for your help. _________________ Regards

I'm not sure why I'm not getting any reply for this post. I would appreciate it if someone tell me what I did wrong to have no replies. Is my post too long or too confusing? All I'm trying to do is setup a cluster and test it. I believe I have the cluster running now but not sure how to test it or what to expect in a failover situation.
Hope someone in this forum can help or point me to the right direction.
Thanks _________________ Regards

Thank you for your reply K.
You are right, my cluster seems to work fine. I'm in the process of testing the failover. Using MQWF client with MQ Server, I can log on fine when both system are running. However, when I shut down the second system, the first retry to logon always fails with "Timeout" error, but subsequent logon is OK. It seems like the session is cached or something. I would like the failover to work right away with out having to logon the second time.
Hope some one can help. _________________ Regards

i guess you are trying to log on before the system is not completely shut down i.e the session is not closed. Wait for some time before u logon.

Thanks K,
I tried that. I waited for 15 minute and it still timeout for the first retry. Do you know how long do I have to wait and how do I shorten the wait time?
Thankyou for your response. _________________ Regards
