Hi All,
I'm trying to script the creation of all things MQ Related in order to handover to our operational team. So far I've been succesful in all respects i.e. Channels, Queues, CLuster Channels, and the creation of the Queue Manager itself. However I've now hit a brick Wall in the creation of the Listener, and Channel Initiators. I've got the commands RUNMQLSR, and RUNMQCHI to work but these seem to be only temporary. WHat I actually want is to be able to permanently define them and for them to start after the server is restarted i.e. as it appears in the Websphere MQ Services when the listener is created in the MMC snap in tool.
Is this possible?
Platform Windows 2000
MQ 5.3 CSD 3
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

With V5.3 on Windows 2000, if you scripted the creation of the Queue Manager, won't that "automatically" also create a Listener, Channel Initiator and Command Server?
I've installed V5.3 on a couple dozen W2K servers recently and the only service that I've had to create after the fact was the Trigger Monitor. That is, assuming you check the proper boxes/radio buttons on the install dialog/script.
I must be missing something..... |

Use amqmdain.
For example,
"amqmdain crtlsr <qmgrname> <parms>" creates the listener.
If you installed the documentation from the CD, go to Start ->Programs ->MQ ->Documentation and click on the Search tab and enter amqmdain.
Otherwise, look in the MQ Systems Admin Guide for more on amqmdain.

I'd rather be golfing to! can confirm that the Listener and Channel Initiator are created when going through the GUI, it's just I need to script things to handover to our operations team and therefore need to do it via the command line (thanks for trying though  )
Charlie : This seems to be exactly what I need (I say seems to be 'cause my installation of mq was one of the first things I scripted and I didn't want the documentation filling our servers). Oh well off to read the documentation now (I did search several places prior to asking my question but couldn't find any answers and AMQMDAIN, isn't something you're likely to guess  .
