MVS: MQ 5.3.1
Unix: MQ 5.3 CSD04
Data is extracted from a DB2 database into an MVS dataset separating fields with pipe delimitters "|". An MVS batch job calls a program to transmit this file to Unix using MQ Series. The pipe symbols in MVS become exclamation symbols on Unix. Anybody know why?
Note: I have not ruled out the application yet... |

Well look up the numeric value for the ACSII/EBCDIC characters, you may find it is working correctly. I would look them up but I am at home

Check the CCSID of the MVS QM. It is probably the default of 500, which has issues with the "!" in some conversions (it does going to Windows).
500 is International EBCDIC. Try setting the CCSID to 037, which is US EBCIDIC, which seems to convert that "!" properly. _________________ Peter Potkay

Setting CCSID to '037' corrected the problem. Your help is much appreciated!! |
