1. Is there a way to "Silent Install" MQSeries patch, PTF U200136A for NT?
2. How can we verify the patch is installed on NT client and server?
Any insight you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Penny, see
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/mqseries/fixes/winnt52/U200136/README.TXT
For the README associated with the PTF. The "silent install" issue is interesting. I believe it may be possible since IBM is now using Microsoft's installer. Maybe the installer has a standard quiet with response mechanism ...
To validate which is installed, I use the undocumented (I believe) command called:
mqver
This returns the current installed version. |

Penny, I'm not sure about a silent install for patches (the documentation seems to indicate an interactive only way) but I can tell you how to verify the current patch levels.
Here's what IBM says to do:
E) Querying the Service Level
--------------------------
To query the service level on Windows NT Version 4.0, select
"Start", and then select "Programs" and then select "IBM MQSeries
for Windows NT", and finally select "MQSeries Service Level".
This shows the memo.ptf file containing the service level and
details of the maintenance applied (PTF number). This file is
included in the root directory of the CD-ROM.
The funny thing is that this information is actually from memo.ptf, the file that you are supposed to open to check the service level!
But you have to scroll down a few lines and you should see something like this:
This memo.ptf file corresponds to the fourth CSD, which is defined
as PTF U200115 and is numbered 04. The fourth CSD will bring your
MQSeries for Windows NT Version 5.1 installation up to service level
U200115. If your service level is already U200115 then you do not
need to install this CSD.
That tells you what PTF you most recently installed because memo.ptf gets updated everytime you install a patch.
Hope this helps...

Neil,
I never heard of mqver and I looked all over my MQ install on NT to try and find it with no success. Are you sure this is what it's called?
