Is there any option available in OS/390 or in CICS - OS/390, to physically view the MQSeries queue, its associated Q mgnr and the data residing in the queue?

I imagine this is documented in the z/OS System Administration Guide.

Or perhaps in the z/OS Problem Determination Guide.

Hi,

Have you tried out MQ Visual Edit? It is a Java application that you run on your desktop and can connect to any queue manager on any platform.

You can download a beta at
http://www.capitalware.biz/beta.html

later

Try the supportpacs such as MO71?
http://www-3.ibm.com/software/integration/support/supportpacs/product.html#wmq

We have a simple utility can browse queues but I don't know where it came from or what code it uses underneath. Maybe someone else knows?

Quote:
------------------------- MQM MVS/ESA UTILITY MENU --------------
OPTION ===>

B MQBRO - Browse an MQM Queue
C MQCMD - Issue MQM Commands
D MQDLQ - Administer an MQM Dead Letter Queue on MQM ===> MQD2

If you have the Client Attach Facility installed then you have more options for viewing the queues - but unless you write code yourself you will probably have to pay for it.

Let us know what you end up using,
Vicky

Candle sell a product called PQEdit which allows editing of queue contents under ISPF.

For Windows providing the MQGET does a CONVERT then any program browsing a queue can be used on a OS/390 queue. But of course you do need the MQ client attach option for the mainframe.

Should you be able to use a MQ client connection to OS/390 there is a good chance you can find a free queue browser program.

Hi,

There will be another release for MQ Visual Edit on Nov 1 with more new features. MQ Visual Edit fully supports OS/390 queue managers.

There is another IBM free support pack MA10 that allows browsing of messages on a queue. It is at website
http://www-3.ibm.com/software/integration/support/supportpacs/individual/ma10.html.

It is easy to download and install and it will display the menu mentioned in an earlier posting

OPTION ===>
B MQBRO - Browse an MQM Queue
C MQCMD - Issue MQM Commands
D MQDLQ - Administer an MQM Dead Letter Queue on MQM ===>

In addition to the MA10 support pac mentioned.

Download the MA17 Message Handler Program. It's similar to the MA10 Browse, but formats the message so its easier to read.

Out of the box it will only read local queues, but w/ a quick modification you can read cluster queues also.
