Hi all,
I would like to know what are the internal limits of MQSeries in term of number of queues for a queue manager ? Are there any sort of limits for the number of alias, local, or whatever type of queues ? _________________ Alain Buret

There are no published limits for number of queues. AFAIK it would depend on how big your disk was - whether you had enough Inodes - usually in the hundreds of thousands I would have thought on most Unix systems, could be a problem on some Wintel platforms maybe?
DMPMQLOG talks about a Queue ID, I assume this is a 32-bit number or better, so at least 2 billion?
The number of queues that could be open at any one time would depend on your architecture, but I remember there is a max handle limit that any one MQ process would hit....
Of course, as soon as you start putting messages in the queues your disk requirements are obviously way-up.

Thanks for info, that's what I was thinking ... the limit only seems to be the OS limits ... _________________ Alain Buret

At 5.3, when you open a queue it takes about 64K of memory, so your RAM will be the limiting factor as to how many queues you can have open at the same time. (prior to 5.3 it is about 250K of RAM per open queue)
Unopened queues: no limit that I have heard of. _________________ Peter Potkay
