Did you read the question correctly? _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

Use this topic to understand the use of IBM® MQ for z/OS® by the WebSphere® Application Server.
Applications written in Javaâ„¢ that are running under WebSphere Application Server can use the Java Messaging Service (JMS) specification to perform messaging. Point-to-point messaging in this environment can be provided by an IBM MQ for z/OS queue manager.
A benefit of using an IBM MQ for z/OS queue manager to provide the messaging is that connecting JMS applications can participate fully in the functionality of an IBM MQ network. For example, they can use the IMS bridge, or exchange messages with queue managers running on other platforms. |
It's that "...or exchange messages with queue managers running on other platforms..." which is a bit 'woolly' and could imply there is an MQ Client for z/OS.
I'm not that up in z/OS, and MQ on it, to know whether there are 'native' MQ Java Client libraries that would allow MQ Client connection to a queue manager. Would USS provide that, or would it really be z/Linux in that case?
And, I interpreted the OP's question to be "...is there an MQ Client on z/OS, that can connect to queue managers on Linux?...", as in a 'vanilla' MQ Client (C stylee). _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

CAF, WAS and CHIN, run as USS (UNIX System Services) in z/OS. The OP was non-specific as to precisely what/how an MQ client app was to exec, only is it possible with z/OS. JMS and Java apps are clients. These are supported on z/OS. zLinux is not z/OS _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
