Is the transaction worth one cent? One million dollars? While you may have technical skills to do either, what business rules apply? Should the transaction be committed? Or backed out? |

You must be very new to system administration, to MQ, to IT, to believe that you will not be blamed should this go badly.
I'd run this by IT management and/or auditors. I'd get written acknowledgement from management that they understand the risks of summarily removing transactional messages without knowing anything about them. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

I gather that you did not develop the application(s). As a system administrator, you can not and should not make such a value judgement.
Is the qmgr in PROD? Or TEST? If TEST, how will you deal with future orphaned messages?
More generally, what best-practice business policy will you follow should this happen again? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
