Try it and see, you'll be pleasantly surprised... _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

I will once I get the servers handed over to me
I found some old notes that previous support guys (no longer here) used and there is talk about creating symbolic links etc for FTE to work on shared drive within MSCS and that is either becuase they wrote this for MQ FTE7.0 and that is no longer needed in later version or its a way they figured out how to get it going... |

FTE and MFT have different directories for their config / logs. When we migrated to MFT, we deleted the FTE agent, created a MFT agent with same name, and migrated the custom settings in agent.properties.
We install & configure MQ MFT on local disks on both servers. Seems to work OK for MFT, provided the properties files are exactly the same on both servers.
If there is a MQ queue manager in the same MSCS cluster, the MQ recovery logs and qmgr data need to be on cluster disks. _________________ Glenn |

Ahh ok so you dont put any of the configuration in the Cluster. DO you still set a resource up to manage the MQMFT Agent services?
I'll be testing this all out once I get a Windows Cluster!!! |

That article you quoted states:
1. Install IBM MQ Managed File Transfer locally on each machine in the cluster.
.
.
4. Create the same agent on the other machine, but do not start the agent, or set the agent up as a service. This ensures that the file structure for logs, properties, and so on, exists on the second machine.

The MFT Agent and Service is created using normal commands fteCreateAgent fteModifyAgent on both nodes of the cluster.
Don't start the Service. Set the Service startup type = Manual.
In Failover Cluster Manager, add a resource, type 4 - Generic Service, select the service 'WebSphere MQ Managed File transfer agent'.
Bring the resource online.
The MFT agent service should start up OK. Verify that its working OK. QED. _________________ Glenn |
