Hi All,
Need your inputs on migration of MQ V7.0 to IIB V10 queue manager.
We have MQ 7.0 and MB 7.0 production environment running on AIX.
Plan is to migration MB 7.0 to IIB V10 on AIX environment.
Presently all MB queue manager are running with MQ 7.0 with under HACMP failover.
Need you inputs on below queries :-
1) Is the MQ 7.0 queue manager objects (queues, channel, listener, authorization) are compatible with IIB V10 queue manager. Can I export these mq 7.0 queue manager objects and add into the IIB V10 queue manger?
2) How HACMP failover work with IIB V10 queue manager - in case of failover, maintenance activity? HACMP compatible with IIB V10 queue manager?
3) We have multiple consumer and provider running mq client v5.0/6.0/7.0...These mq client version are compatible with IIB V10 queue manager?
4) Any MCAUSER authorization has been change in IIB V10 queue manager?
5) Any other special points need to be take care in this migration?
There is no special redbook or documentation available about IIB V10 MQ queue manger so no idea how to migrate...

There's no such thing as an IIB V10 queue manager.
IIB V10 sits on top of an MQ queue manager, which can be at any of the supported versions. Assuming it's sitting on a queue manager at all.
All of your questions depend on which version of MQ you're using with IIB V10. But in general:
1) Probably, given that you're not adding them to the IIB V10 queue manager but the queue manager it's using
2) Mostly
3) Client versions at v5.0 are not officially compatible with MQ v7.0. The older the client code, the less likely it will work properly with new versions.
4) All sorts of changes to MQ security from v7.5 onwards.
5) Yes

There's a wealth of documentation in the MQ InfoCenter. There's no documentation in the IIB InfoCenter because there's no such thing as an IIB queue manager. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

MQ v7 is entirely out of support.
That is a much more pressing change then adding IIB v10. _________________ chmod -R ugo-wx / |

IIB V10 Infocenter says :-
IIB V10 is not dependent on any Messaging, MQ is not a Prerequisite.
My present MQ version is 7.0 integrated with Message Broker 7.0.
The plan is migration MB7.0 into IBM Integration Bus Version 10.
Please correct my doubt :-
IIB V10 is not dependent on any Messaging, MQ is not a Prerequisite...
1) Is this mean that MQ 7.0, MQ 7.5, MQ 8.0 and later version MQ product no need to install with IIB V10 node?
2) Does IIB has built in MQ installed and that is the reason you do not have to install separate WebSphere MQ product on the same IIB node?
I have confusion on this statement that - IIB V10 is not dependent on any Messaging, MQ is not a Prerequisite.
Need your input to clear this doubt.
Thanks,

There are features of IIB V10 that require a queue manager - obviously any MQ nodes, and things like Aggregation and Collection nodes that need queues under the covers.
There are features of IIB v10 that don't.
IIB does not have an embedded MQ system. If you want it to use a queue manager, you must install MQ.
Again. The first and most pressing problem is getting off of MQ v7. You can't run IIB v10 on top of a v7 queue manager.
You can't open any PMRs against MQ v7. There are no more FixPacks for MQ v7 being produced, and I doubt there are any new APARs since it went out of support.
MQ v7 does not support TLS, afaik. SSLV3 is entirely insecure. _________________ chmod -R ugo-wx / |

To clarify, MQ v7.0 is out of support.
v7.1 and v7.5 are supported, although EOS has been announced. _________________ Glenn |

Unlike previous versions, IIBv10 will install and can run without a queue manager installed on the same server, with the correct configuration and accepting that some functions are not available.

No. There is no version of MQ nor any MQ functionality built into IIBv10. If you wish to use MQ, or those IIBv10 functions that still require a queue manager, you'll need to install MQ and make it available to IIB. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
