Hi,
I need to be able to recover from a failed MQ server within a few minutes, my server has quite a couple of queues and various channels so manually re-creating them is not a option.

How can I backup and restore my MQ Server.

Platform:
Windows 2000 Server
WebSphere MQ 5.3

First of all - do you process any persistent messages? If so, are you using circular or linear logging? Your recovery procedure will depend on this.

As far as object definitions are concerned, you can try out saveqmgr program provided by IBM in MS03 support pack. Also, take a look at the following link: http://www.middleware.org/general/sysmgtdisc.html or search the forums at mqseries.net - there's been a lot of discussions on recovery.
