Hello,

I have the following problem and hope someone can help me:
On my MQ-Server are several MQ-Manager. Al the manager works with the "coded character set id" 850.
Now, one of the MQ manager must be converted to the Unicode UTF 8.

Does anyone know if this is possible?
Would the other queue managers affected by the change?

i look forward for answers

Regards
RaSi

Can you elaborate on the reasons? Changing the qmgr ccsid could have wide ranging ramifications.

Hello gbaddeley,

thank you for your answere.
We have several Queue-Manager for several customers on our Queue-Server. One of our customer expressed the wish to change the Queue-Manager code into UTF 8. How ever, so far as I know, this can only happen across systems (all Queue Managers) and not only fore one.

The CCSID is specific to a single queue manager. If your MQ topology is set correctly, and all the applications coded to best practice standards (most importantly "receiver makes good") then you should have no problems.

If this is not true, or the customer is question does not have a queue manager dedicated to his use, or the customer has applications on his dedicated queue manager that assume the use of 850 not UTF-8 (see above re: best practices) then as my worthy associate points out such a change (on a single queue manager or system wide) could cause chaos.
