Hi,

I am trying to configure "Queue Connection Factory" settings under JMS in WAS. I have a local Queue Manager (v7.5.0.6) up and running. When I try to Test Connection after feeding the required config details, I am getting MQRC 2009. the exact error info is as below,

A connection could not be made to WebSphere MQ for the following reason: JMSCMQ0001: WebSphere MQ call failed with compcode '2' ('MQCC_FAILED') reason '2009' ('MQRC_CONNECTION_BROKEN').

What would be the reason for this error? I have the WAS and the WMQ server in the same local server which runs on Windows 7.

The issue is resolved. It was due to system firewall setting. In such a case, the system environment variable "MQNOREMPOOL" has to be set to value "1" and a Queue Manager restart (Listener restart) is required.

MQNOREMPOOL - When you set this variable, it switches off channel pooling and causes channels to run as threads of the listener.

... Where did you get information that this was the right solution? Did this come from a PMR?

This is a fairly drastic solution.

Were you getting the 2009 for *the very first* connection you tried to open?

Or for "the next connection after N connections were created"?

Or for "A random connection after some period of time when everything was working fine" ?

These three types of problems have very different solutions, and MQNOREMPOOL might only be the right solution for the first one.

I was getting it from the very first time I tried connecting. I was never able to connect until I used this approach to set the Environment Variable. I got this information from one other MQSeries/developerWorks post, which I am not able to trace back to now.
