Hi All,
we have some issues with our app performance and we need to put some traces in MQ. Can any one of the experts aor who ever used it help us.

Our MQ is on Solaris.
We use MQ 5,2

1) We started trace with strmqtrc -m QM
(using the default trace level as "all")
2) we get lot of (8-10) .TRC files.

examples of our files:

AMQ4251.TRC
AMQ10170.TRC
AMQ18545.TRC
AMQ23529.TRC
AMQ23520.TRC

Our questions:
1) what is the significance of these files. I mean which files should we see for debug info.

2) Are these filenames random?

3) Why is MQ producing so many .TRC files. We assumed it would give one .TRC file.

Any and All the help is greatly appreciated

MQGuy

You should
1. Start the trace
2. Recreate the problem. (or wait for the problem to reoccur)
3. End the trace.

It is not advisable to keep the tracing on.

I think the file names are generated based on the PIDs of the MQ processes.

Venny is correct. The names are AMQ<pid>.trc.
Just grep for your application name and look at that trace file. You can ignore the others.
