Couple of entities merging with different methodologies. So, time to come up with one.
We are running MQv7 and MQv8 and do rolling maintenance. The MQ
runtime datasets are on the SYSRES. We want to standardize the way we
send out the assemble/compile datasets and also include them on the
SYSRES.
We keep the oldest version of MQ in the environment until all MQMs
reach v8 (highest MQ software release level).
So, on the SYSRES we have ALL hlevel.v8.SCSQ**** for mqms and CICS,
IMS, etc and will have these v71 on the SYSRES for assembles/compiles
hlevel.V71.SCSQAUTH PGMERS use MQM.SCSQ**** alias so JCL not impacted
hlevel.V71.SCSQCOBC
hlevel.V71.SCSQC370
hlevel.V71.SCSQLINK
hlevel.V71.SCSQLOAD
hlevel.V71.SCSQMACS
hlevel.V71.SCSQPLIC
So application programmers have datasets to assemble/compile with to
avoid running a assembled/compiled program under v8 datasets (higher release in a lower runtime).
When all LPARs have v8, compile/assemble libs changed to v8.
Is this a appropriate methodology with rolling MQ maintenance? If a
application program does dynamic calls, would there be any failures
given this type of configuration?

How do you validate that your apps will behave well with the next VRM of IMQ code?
