Hello,

Today I had to add new channel definitions to existing AMQCLCHL.TAB. I opened it in notepad and noticed there are at least 8 definition already present however when I run MO72 utility: mqsc -n, it showed me only 3. When I definied new CLNTCONN channel and browsed TAB file with notepad again, I noticed CCDT was updated with new one but I still saw 8 more which I didn't see in mqsc.

Does anyone know what might be the reason?

MQ client installed is 6.0.2.12 (yes, I know). AMQCLCHL.TAB had modification date from 2010 so it is definitely not CCDT v10.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers
Kordian

Don't edit the CCDT file with notepad. As far as I know there is no "browse" mode in notepad.

Come on I just opened it in notepad. This is binary file, I know I cant edit it in notepad.

If you open file in editor and close editor without making any changes to file, file will remain unchanged.

I was editing using MO72

Depending on the release version of MQ this can be a bad thing.

Check out if you can use MO72 in rel 7.5. For Version 8 just use runmqsc

Yes, there is MO72 and MO72 for 7.5 available on the page.

CCDT which I was editing was an old file, I bet it was created using QMGR v6. The thing is when I browsed file I could see many definitions of channels. When I opened it with MO72, I could see only 2 + default system clntconn channel. And when I put CCDT into definied destination, mq client logs were full of errors about damaged file. When I recovered old CCDT, it was fine.

WTF???

CCDT files can also contain deleted channels. The CLNTCONN MQCD's are in linked lists.

oh, I didn't know that. When I was testing CCDT, everytime I had deleted CLNTCONN, it dissapeared from CCDT too.
