Working as designed.
This is what IBM wants. Please feel free to raise an RFE to get this corrected. I would support it.
In my case the first system that will have this installed will be a Server 2012 CORE. No GUI. Yet I have to use all that disk space for no good reason.
It remains to be seen if the 10.0.0.1 fixpack will work if the toolkit files have been deleted. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Thanks..I checked in IBM help iib installer comes as a package of toolkit and runtime for windows and Linux.
I need to prevent users from not accessing toolkit on test environment and have authorized user to access only command console and Integration nodes.
integration nodes can be restricted using setdbparams I can restrict to use them, but about toolkit I am not sure how to do that. please share if you have some good options to it .
..............
Thanks

Hi,
If you specify your own directory path, be aware of the following restrictions:
Specify a directory path to a new or empty directory. Do not install IBM Integration Bus Version 10.0 over an existing deployment of IBM Integration Bus. To upgrade the product, either uninstall the existing version of IBM Integration Bus before you install the new version of the product, or install the new version alongside the existing version and migrate your resources to the new version.
In the IBM help installation guide above lines are written.
What does it mean like we will need to uninstall IIB 10.0 if higher versions are available in market.
Can someone please help me figuring out the issues related to it.
Thanks

It means that if you have IIBv9 installed at
Code: |
C:\Program Files\IBM\IIB |
then you should install IIBv10 in a different directory. Likewise, when you come to install IIBv11, you should install that to a separate location.
You can eliminate the problem by installing to
Code: |
C:\Program Files\IBM\IIBv09
C:\Program Files\IBM\IIBv10
C:\Program Files\IBM\IIBv11
|
or indeed accepting the default installation directory from the wizard IIRC (not used Windoze for a few versions....) _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

We heard you loud and clear on this one. I can confirm that 10.0.0.1 gives a choice in the GUI Installer (Options pane) on Windows and also on the command line (Windows and Linux) to not install/extract the Toolkit. It is still a single package, but now you get the choice to install it all or install it without the Toolkit.

Can you give us some more detail? What do you mean message?
What target systems?
Please remember that IIB10 can use MQ just like all versions going back to (at least) MQSI 2.0.1 more than 13 years ago.
A little more context wouild help us to answer you correctly. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Currently I am using 9.0, One of my IIB touch point going down (not running), I can hold the message in the MQ, but If i am going to upgrade to 10 means there is no MQ concept, then where i can hold the message incase of the touch points are gown.
application- rest/JSON (connectivitiy) - httpnode - storing the message to MQ-IIB transformation - storing the message in the MQ- httpnode (rest/Json)- target system.
Now if target system is down I can hold the message in the MQ. IF I am going to upgrade to 10 then , how can I hold the message during the downtime.

Ok, please tell us where IBM are saying that IIB 10 can't use MQ?
Sure, you can run IIB10 without MQ but for 90%+ of the correspondents who post here, the thought of IIB with NO MQ support/usability woul be enough to make us all collectively retire on the spot.
So who told you this?
Have you even tried to use MQ with IIB 10? Are the MQ nodes in the toolkit?
If someone is spouting this as a truth then we (and IBM) need to know _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Then I need to have the Q manager license as well? So I have to pay double right? for the new journey?

For IIB V10 there is an MQ License included in the IIB License. The same licensing rules apply as for IIB 9.
This may change in the future. IBM will tell us.
However you won't pay 'double'. MQ is a far, far cheaper license cost than IIB.
May I humbly suggest that you speak to your IBM rep for the whole picture. I might be wrong with what I have said above but that is how I understand it to be.
However I see someone with a very similar name asked this very same question in April 2015. Did you read the response here? Are you that same 'sathish'?

IIB v10 allows you to use a queue manager that is on a separate machine, or not use a queue manager at all.
It does not require it. |
