I have a set of VM's (Windows Server 2008R2 + MSCS Cluster) that I'm doing a POC on the upgrade of a MQ 7.0.8 + Broker V7.0.0.4 upgrade to MQ 8.0.0.2 + IIB 9.0.0.3

Everything was fine until I upgraded MQ to 8.0.0.2
since then MQExplorer starts up saying

Code:

Could not create the view: com.ibm.etools.wmadmin.broker.explorer.eventlog.view

The .link files are in their expected locations
Code:

C:\IBM>dir/s/p *.link

 Directory of C:\IBM\WMQ7\MQExplorer\eclipse\links

04/07/2015  08:16 AM                27 com.ibm.wmadmin.broker.explorer.link
               1 File(s)             27 bytes

 Directory of C:\IBM\WMQ7\MQExplorer\links

04/07/2015  08:16 AM                27 com.ibm.wmadmin.broker.explorer.link
               1 File(s)             27 bytes

     Total Files Listed:
               2 File(s)             54 bytes
               0 Dir(s)   7,435,526,144 bytes free

C:\IBM>

IIB was at 9.0.0.2. Upgrading to 9.0.0.3 does not see any changes.

Anyone any thoughts on how I can resolve this?

My next step is to either
1) uninstall IIB totally and re-install it
OR
2) go back to the working V7 vm's and apply the MQ 8 + IIB 9 upgrades again but this time going straight to MQ 8.0.0.2 , IIB 9.0.0.3

Anyone any thoughts on how I can resolve this?

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions.

It appears that uninstalling IIBExplorer and installing it again seems to solve the problem.

Taking MQ explorer and IIB explorer outside and shooting them would be my advice.

I have nothing but trouble with these products.

IBM would seem to agree with you, though like all IBM products and personnel they will enjoy a process of retirement rather than brutal slaughter.

Ok, in IIB10 this is all done via a Browser.
This is all well and good but IMHO, is it dog slow just like a WAS console.

I guess that for V11 it will be intrgrated into the WAS Console (Sigh).
Lets hope I decide to retire before then.,

If not in Eclipse and not in a browser, then where?

Despite the increasingly WAS-like topology of IIB, I doubt they're ditch one dependancy (MQ) and add another (WAS). Which is not to say that there will not be capabilities to administer IIB from the WAS console but I doubt it will be the only way.

Frankly, if you could administer IIB from WAS, this site probably would.

So we bid farewell to @smdavies99, who died spitting blood as a thousand developers all built their own administration interfaces for their own objects. May he REST in peace.....

Don't get me wrong, I love their function. I just hate the fact that MQ explorer locks up, views fail to open, etc etc.

The IIB web admin is basic - has limited (or in fact none at all) navigation over multiple brokers and is generally a long way from being as complete as IBX.

The MQ web admin - well, let's just not even go there.

Hey! I ain't gone/going yet. I have 3.4 years to go to reach my Gov Retirement date.
The question is, will I put up with being employed for that long?
When I stop enjoying what I do then it will be time to retire and start my new career well away from anything IT related.

It is. About 3 years or 2 versions if you want my personal opinion; the length of retirement the Explorer can look forward to.

4 years or 3 versions. Less if they plagurize (sorry, research) the code from IIB.
