Guys, I am running the following toolkit:
IBM Integration Toolkit
Version: 9.0.0.1
Build id: 9.0.0.1-20131122-1731
We have a message flow that picks up a file sent to us from our Mainframe, and attaching that file to a Soap message as an MTOM attachment, sending it to our DataPower security device, and ultimately to a vendor out there.
So, the requirement from the vendor is to password protect that file. Is this at all possible in Message Broker?
Thanks |

The question here is more like "how do I password protect a file" ...
You can then attach the password protected file to your message... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

If it's a SOAP message, it's not a file.
If they want to protect the contents of part of the SOAP message, they should be using WS-Security. |

Thanks fjb_saper: That I know how to do, password-protecting a file, the problem here would be, the .csv file gets created on our Host system, they cannot p/w protect the file on host, I wanted to know if I can apply a p/w- on it on the fly in IIB before I attach it as an MTOM attachment going out.
Thanks mqjeff: Let me look at this option then. |

if you need the attachment to appear as a password protected file you need to "password protect" the file before you attach it. Whether this is on the fly (between file read and attaching the BLOB to the message) or before the file read is up to you.
How you do that is up to you and the tools you have at your disposal.
If you just need the attachment to be encrypted use ws-security.
Note: There is a difference between a password protected pdf and a pdf that has been encrypted by ws-security... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |
