Good morning,
Running MQSeries v5.2 CSD04 on AIX v4.3.3. Im seeing files of type 'socket' such as follows in my /tmp directory:
MQSeries.63410
MQSeries.50284
The more recent ones of the bunch are for active PIDs that represent either a runmqchi or runmqchl process. I am not too concerned about these recent and active guys, but I see about 40 others that are weeks/months old for PIDs that are no longer there. Apparently orphans when a channel abends. I sent a problem ticket to IBM, and they suggested a cleanup script - no mention of code defect though. Can anyone please describe the process that MQSeries uses to acquire and release these sockets? Any of you find this on your systems?
Thanks,
Dan |

Hi, Yes we see these on out AIX boxes also (MQ v5.2 CSD06). However as the files are 0 bytes in size and we clean up tmp on a reasonably regular frequency we aren't that concerned.
Thanks

Thanks for the comments, very helpful. Thanks Vennela, I followed the link and understand much more that this is probably a code defect. I made comment to IBM in my problem report, and they were quick to close without comment. Something I'm getting used to from IBM; seems they are more concered with the appearance of 'zero defects' and their development bonuses than fixing all problems - as they used to do in the past. Keep up the postings on the forums....this is an excellent place to discuss these types of issues and solve problems. Thanks again,
