Hi,
Any of you who attended my session at MQTC last year may remember that one of the features I said that I was looking to put in to MO71 was the ability to compare MQ objects between Queue Managers where the object names weren’t identical.
It is a fairly common, and wise, practice to name your MQ objects differently on your test and development systems than on your production systems. For example, a production queue called APP.COMMAND may be called APP.COMMAND.TST on a test Queue Manager and perhaps APP.COMMAND.DEV on a development Queue Manager. This very significantly reduces the risk of cross-talk between production and test systems. One can even go so far as naming the production queues APP.COMMAND.PRD, or similar. This also highlights to Administrators that this is a production queue and should therefore be treated carefully.
MO71 now allows you to specify a name mask, for example, *.TST, against your Queue Manager definition. So, you could define *.TST for your test Queue Managers and *.DEV for your development Queue Managers. When you compare the definitions between these two Queue Managers MO71 will now match up the names, both on comparison and synchronisation. So, for these configurations it becomes much easier to both check your definitions and synchronise if required.
In addition MO71 will allow you to specify a name pattern which describes your naming convention. You can then ask the program to verify that objects conform to that naming scheme and prevent you defining queues which are not in that scheme. As well as ensuring name conformance it can also be useful in avoiding accidentally defining objects on the wrong Queue Manger.
This version of MO71, Version 8.0.3, is now available as an open Beta at http://www.mqgem.com/beta_downloads/mo71_8.0.3_Beta.zip.I would be interested to hear your thoughts and opinions. As with all Betas the usual caveats apply, take backups of your data etc.
Licensed users of MO71 can run the program on their current licence. If you don’t have a licence then by all means send an email to support@mqgem.com and one will be sent to you.
I look forward to your feedback,
Cheers,
Paul. _________________ Paul Clarke

Paul
You have a superfluous dot at the end of your download URL

Sorry, looks like the auto-link detector is not as clever as I gave it credit for. That'll teach me for being lazy and not putting in the URL tags.
Thanks for letting me know,
Paul. _________________ Paul Clarke

Put the tags around it in your original post. However I don't seem to have any problem in chrome... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

It's been corrected - that's why it works now! _________________ Well, I don't think there is any question about it. It can only be attributable to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before, and it has always been due to human error. |
