Just need your help on a quick question using IBM CFSIZER fro MQSeries

There is an input field
Average arrival rate of MQ messages with average size < 63KB
A quick look at the question will normally think that it is in message per
sec.
But if you click on the help link just above that field, it says
point #3 - Determine the average arrival rate of MQ messages with average
size < 63KB by dividing the result from step 2b by the duration of the
measurement interval.
SMF measurement interval are normally in minutes. This is what get me
confused.
Can anyone help me to confirm if this field should be msg/sec or msg/minute ?
This makes a big difference in the estimat |

Its a rate. The definition of the rate is absolute sum of messages received during the interval, divided by the length of the interval in time value.
It does not matter much whether it is msgs per second or per minutes. You will just have to adjust the formula as to what goal you are persuing...
If you want to be able to hold a day's worth of messages, how many messages do you get during the day (on average)?
The rate (stated per time interval) multiplied by the number of intervals during a day...
and the size of storage needed?
Multiply again using the average size of the messages and pad with a significant safety factor...  _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

Sorry, I am still confused
The help page for "Average arrival rate of MQ messages with average size < 63KB" says
1. For each queue mapped to the structure, calculate the average message size from SMF Type 116 Subtype 1 records by dividing (the total number of bytes put successfully) by (the number of MQPUTs writing data).
2.Over all queues with an average message size less than 63KB:
a.Sum the total number of bytes put successfully.
b.Sum the total number of MQPUTs writing data.
3.Determine the average arrival rate of MQ messages with average size < 63KB by dividing the result from step 2b by the duration of the measurement interval.
For example, 2b come out to be 100 MQPUT calls and my duration of measure is 10 minutes. Should I enter 100/10 =10 as the average rate or should I enter 100/10x60 as the rate. |

you are being too litteral and hiding the goal.
You are focused on plugging one number here, one there and loosing complete sense of what the data represents.
I says clearly that it wants a rate per time interval. Did you enquire as to what the interval should be? Is it specified further down the road?  _________________ MQ & Broker admin |
