Hi,

What are the main advantages/differences of using MQSeries server against MQSeries client, I know that:

- Clients don't provide synchronous, whereas MQSeries server is asynchronous

- Clients connect to a queue manager, which might resides locally or remotely.

- It is more expensive to buy MQSeries server

- There is nothing to admionister on a client machine, whereas on the MQSeries server machine, you will need to look after queue manager and its objects.

What I am not sure of is that, does mqseries client provide assured delivery of messages?

Regards

There is a section in the Clients manual that gives a discussion on why you might want to use clients. As far as your points:

- An MQSeries client application requires a synchronous connection to the qmgr. If this connection goes down, your program becomes responsible for the messages.
- You can use a client connection to a qmgr that is either local (on the same machine) or remote (on a different machine).
- MQSeries servers are more expensive. However, they do give you the benefit of being able to store messages.
- The client does have some administration in that you have to take care of either the client connection table or the use of the MQSERVER environment variable.

The other thing to keep in mind is that you can't just buy the client.

Clients have to connect to a server somewhere.
