Hello Kimbert,

Sorry to bother you but I could not find another property than the dfdl:truncateSpecifiedLengthString (='yes') one, in order to truncate the input string to the specified length.
As I told you, this property is not supported by IBM.

Do you know another way to do that?

Thanks again,

Regards,

Did you look in the mapping? Did you see a truncate function there?

Hello,

Of course, but this is not what I want to do.
I want some property that would made the dfdl do it automatically.
Otherwise I would have to use the mapping truncate function for like more than 100 fields.

Thanks a lot,

Regards,

Yes - it looks as if truncateSpecifiedLengthString is not supported in current versions of IBM DFDL. I agree that it would be the ideal solution for you. I will mention it to the development team.

Thanks Kimbert, I totally agree that it would be the best for us, otherwise the mapping complexity and the time to create the full flow will be much longer.
Do you if at least, within the mapping node we can access the dfdl:length variable in order to use the truncate function in way a bit more automatica?

Thanks a lot,

There is no built-in facility for querying the DFDL schema from a message flow.
